Jakarta - Pencarian AirAsia QZ8501 mulai menemukan titik terang.

Great TURBULANCE on plane AIRASIA QZ8501

Kepala Pusat Meteorologi Penerbangan BMKG Jakarta, Syamsul Huda, mengungkapkan hal serupa.

'Not again': Prayers, sadness over missing AirAsia plane

MANILA, Philippines – It was a gesture that seemed thoughtful to some but ominous to others.

After confirming on social media that AirAsia Indonesia had lost contact with one of its planes, AirAsia changed its logos on Facebook and Twitter from its trademark bright red to a more sober gray.

AirAsia Philippines and AirAsia Hong Kong also changed their logos from red to gray.

Flight QZ8501 was en route to Singapore from Surabaya, Indonesia, on Sunday, December 28, when it lost contact with air traffic control at around 7:24 am, according to a statement from AirAsia.

“Not again,” posted many users in response to news of the missing plane.

The plane, an Airbus A320-200, had 162 passengers and crew members on board, according to Indonesia's Transport Ministry.

Both AirAsia, Singapore, and Malaysia’s search and rescue operations have been activated to look for the missing AirAsia plane.

‘Be red again’

To Facebook users, AirAsia’s quick change logo change was heartbreaking. “You should not change logo black color. It makes people so sad,” Khamlu Varlaintai wrote in the comments section.

Other users criticized the Malaysia-based low-cost airline for updating its social media accounts before releasing newer updates.

“Why why why?? Latest update please! Don't just make it grey!!! Found or not?” wrote Kelly Henney.

“At the present time we unfortunately have no further information regarding the status of the passengers and crew members on board, but we will keep all parties informed as more information becomes available,” AirAsia said in its latest statement.

The missing AirAsia plane is the 3rd in a series of aviation mishaps to happen in 2014.

In March 2014, Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 went missing and is yet to be found. A few months later in July, another Malaysian Airlines flight was gunned down over Ukraine, killing nearly 300 on board.

There were more malicious replies such as Sam Marcus', who wondered why AirAsia had a grayscale version of their logo “ready and waiting.”

“It just a sign that AA is in pray mode. why taking complain too much ?? just wait and see. they should to make sure everything happen true then news it to world,” user Jemi Alfredo said.

“It’s nearing 5 hours since 7 o'clock and Indonesia is not that far from Singapore. If the plane is on the ground, let us pray and hope that it landed roughly safely and that everybody is more or less safe and sound. If it is still in air, let us hope that everybody is calm and nobody did anything stupid,” said Nehru Sathiamoorthy.

"We will be putting out another statement soon. Thank you for all your thoughts and prays. We must stay strong," AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said on Twitter.

A couple of users similarly hoped for the best, wishing AirAsia’s logo would “be red again” soon. – With reports from Bea Cupin and the Rappler Social Media Team/Rappler.com

AirAsia Plane With 162 Aboard Missing After Call for Course Shift

Relatives of the passengers of AirAsia flight QZ8501 comfort each other at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia, Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014. The AirAsia plane with 161 people on board lost contact with ground control on Sunday after taking off from a provincial city in Indonesia for Singapore, and search and rescue operations were underway.

An AirAsia flight carrying 162 people from Indonesia to Singapore went missing Sunday, after the pilot asked for permission to change course due to weather, the airline said.
"AirAsia Indonesia regrets to confirm that flight QZ8501 from Surabaya to Singapore has lost contact with air traffic control at 07:24hrs this morning," the airline said in a statement.
The flight was scheduled to land at 8:30 a.m. local time, a spokesman for Singapore's Changi Airport said. AirAsia announced the flight's disappearance on its Facebook page about three hours after the plane was scheduled to arrive.
The plane had 155 passengers on board, including 16 children and one infant, and two pilots and five crew members, the airline said. Most on board were Indonesian. There were three South Koreans on the plane and one each from Singapore, Britain and Malaysia.
The airline said in a statement that the pilot had asked to change course because of weather. The plane had undergone its last maintenance on Nov. 16, the airline said.
"The aircraft was on the submitted flight plan route and was requesting deviation due to enroute weather before communication with the aircraft was lost," the airline said.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said it was notified 7:54 a.m., about half an hour after the jet was lost, it said in a statement.
"Search and rescue operations have been activated by the Indonesian authorities," the agency said, adding that it has placed two C-130 planes on stand-by to help in the search. "We remain ready to provide any assistance to support the search and rescue effort."
Singapore's prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, expressed his grave concerns on Twitter. "My thoughts are with the passengers and their families," he said.
President Barack Obama has been briefed on the disappearance of the flight and is monitoring developments, a spokesman for the White House said. The National Transportation Safety Board is also monitoring developments, but would need an invitation to assist in any investigation.
Changi Airport set up an area to provide assistance to family of passengers on the flight.
The loss of contact with the AirAsia flight comes nine months after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, which vanished during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people aboard on March 8. It has never been found.

Ignatius Bambang Tjahjono, president of state-owned AirNav Indonesia, which provides air navigation services, said the plane took off at 5:32 a.m. local time (Western Indonesia time). He said it was cruising at 32,000 feet and at 6:12 a.m., it contacted traffic control at Jakarta’s airport to say it was moving left from the flight path and rising to 38,000 feet to avoid a cloud. At 6:16 a.m. the plane was still appearing on the radar, he said. At 6:18 a.m. it disappeared from radar.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said in a statement that Flight QZ8501 was scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 08:30 local time. It also said that search and rescue operations have been activated by the Indonesian authorities and that Singapore has offered to help.

AirAsia jet with 162 on board goes missing on way to Singapore

(CNN) -- The search is on for an AirAsia plane carrying 162 people that lost contact with air traffic control in Indonesia on Sunday.

Before communication was lost, AirAsia Flight 8501 asked to deviate from its planned flight route -- from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore -- because of weather conditions, AirAsia said in a statement.
Flight 8501 went missing at 7:24 a.m. Sunday (7:24 p.m. Saturday ET) as it flew over the Java Sea.

"At this time, search and rescue operations are being conducted under the guidance of the Indonesian Civil Aviation Authority," AirAsia said.

Of the people on board the Airbus A320-200, 156 are Indonesian, three are South Korean, one is French, one is Malaysian and one is Singaporean, the airline said. It had earlier said 157 of those on the plane are Indonesian.

"The aircraft was on the submitted flight plan route and was requesting deviation due to en route weather before communication with the aircraft was lost," AirAsia said.
Bad weather was in evidence in the region at the time, CNN meteorologist Derek Van Dam said.

Missing AirAsia plane was on common route AirAsia pilot requested to change route
"We still had lines of very heavy thunderstorms" when the plane was flying, Van Dam said. "But keep in mind, turbulence doesn't necessarily bring down airplanes."
But CNN aviation analyst Mary Schiavo questioned whether weather would have been a factor in what happened to the plane.

"Ordinarily, the pilots would get the updated weather from air traffic control and, of course, their onboard radar," said Schiavo, a former inspector general for the U.S. Department of Transportation. "So whether there was (bad) weather in the area would not be a mystery."

From flight tracking websites, it looks as though almost the entire flight path is over the sea.
AirAsia is a Malaysia-based airline that is popular in the region as a budget carrier. It has about 100 destinations, with subsidiaries in several Asian countries.

The airline has a "very good" reputation for safety, CNN aviation correspondent Richard Quest said.
The loss of contact with the AirAsia plane comes nearly 10 months after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which dropped off radar over Southeast Asia on March 8.

Searchers are yet to find any debris from Flight 370, which officials believe crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.

U.S. President Barack Obama has been briefed about the missing AirAsia plane, White House spokesman Eric Schultz said, adding that U.S. officials will continue to monitor the situation.
